Wistron Medical Technology Donates Exoskeleton Robot,Launching a New Era of Smart Rehabilitation at KeelungHospital

10, Dec, 2025

In today’s world where medical technology is a crucial driving force for improving quality of life, Wistron Medical Technology Chairman Huang Chun-tung donated a lower limb exoskeleton robot, “Keeogo,” independently developed and manufactured by Wistron Medical Technology, to the Ministry of Health and Welfare Keelung Hospital, bringing a new breakthrough to local rehabilitation medicine. The donation ceremony was held today (December 10th), with Chairman Huang Chun-tung and his team in attendance. Keelung Hospital Superintendent Lin San-chi accepted the donation on behalf of the hospital. Keelung City Deputy Mayor Chiu Pei-lin and Keelung City Health Bureau Director Chang Hsien-cheng were also present to witness the event, symbolizing the official launch of smart rehabilitation in Keelung.

Corporate Partnership for Philanthropy: Technology as a Key to Regenerating Mobility

Chairman Huang Chun-tung stated that for patients with mobility issues or those whose freedom of movement is restricted by illness, the rehabilitation process is both a challenge and a source of hope. “Keeogo,” through machine-assisted movement and
limb support, allows patients to regain the courage to take their first steps. Our greatest mission is to help patients stand up again and enjoy life outdoors once more through technology. This donation of an exoskeleton robot, valued at approximately NT$3 million, is not merely a donation of equipment, but also an initiative to ignite social momentum. It is hoped that this will serve as a catalyst, encouraging medical institutions across Taiwan to acquire their own lower limb exoskeleton robots and jointly respond to the government’s “Healthy Taiwan, Deep Cultivation Plan,” allowing all parts of Taiwan to benefit from advanced medical technology.

Keelung Hospital, a century-old institution, is undergoing technological upgrades, ushering in a smart era for rehabilitation.

Keelung Hospital, a century-old institution, is undergoing technological upgrades, ushering in a smart era for rehabilitation.

Superintendent Lin San-chi stated that the lower limb exoskeleton robot acts like a “walking coach,” providing stable support and assisting with gait training under the guidance of physical therapists. This helps reduce patients’ reliance on wheelchairs and further enhances their autonomy in daily life. With the support of this new technology, the century-old hospital has achieved not only a significant milestone but also a crucial step for Keelung’s medical field towards smart rehabilitation.

Rehabilitation Specialist Leads the Way: Clearly Defined Applicable Groups and Training Benefits

Dr. Wang Chao-min, Director of the Rehabilitation Department at Keelung Hospital, pointed out that “Keeogo” is suitable for patients with neurological and musculoskeletal disorders, such as those with lower limb weakness after stroke, incomplete spinal cord injury, or those who have undergone hip or knee replacement surgery. Users of the lower limb exoskeleton robot for rehabilitation must possess basic mobility, such as being able to walk 3-5 steps or stand independently with assistive devices, and must undergo evaluation by a physician and physical therapist before receiving training. This service is offered at the patient’s own expense.

Patient Demonstration: Technology Transforms Rehabilitation Achievements into Visible Progress

At the event, Mr. Lin, who has been receiving treatment at Keelung Hospital, was invited to demonstrate exoskeleton walking training. Approximately fifty years old, he has suffered from right-side weakness for nine years due to a stroke, previously requiring assistive devices and exhibiting an unsteady gait. However, after 12 exoskeleton training sessions twice a week, not only did walking become smoother and balance improved, but even climbing stairs and moving around in daily life became more stable and effortless. Rehabilitation was no longer just a long wait, but a tangible, measurable, and visible improvement.

Wistron Medical Technology Accelerates its Rehabilitation Technology Layout in Keelung

Wistron Medical Technology has long been committed to the research and development of smart rehabilitation technology. From hardware devices and clinical applications to community outreach services, it is gradually building a smart rehabilitation ecosystem for Taiwan. This donation symbolizes a new starting point for Keelung Hospital in smart healthcare and opens up possibilities for more patients to “return to life.”

The end point of rehabilitation is not how far it is, but being able to go where you want to go again. With the official launch of “Keeogo” in Keelung, Taiwan’s rehabilitation journey is moving towards a more powerful, dignified, and people-centered future.
